New Delhi: Saturday afternoon saw filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj and a host of South Asian film personalities including Pakistani actress Zeba Bakhtiyar in the Capital for a showcase of South-Asian films by the same name.

"I have come here after 14 years which was when I was introduced to films," says Zeba.

And when we cornered Bharadwaj, he said he’s been busy discussing technical issues with the others.

"We are talking about the problems that they face in other countries and it’s all so parallel," he says.

And what about the freshly-released No Smoking, which Bharadwaj has co-produced, getting diametrically opposite reviews, from being touted either as brilliant or bizarre?

“It had the potential of being classy or downright trash. I have my reservations about it and in fact I have to talk to Anurag (Kashyap) about it,” he says.

Bharadwaj was tight-lipped about his next venture, though he let on that it was definitely not based on Shakespeare’s work.

“I know how to do other things as well,” he says.

Shakespeare or not, this filmmaker who finds inspiration in Kyslowski will tread his own path.

From interacting with students to watching their nukkad nataks on the street side, he is sure doing his bit to encourage young theatre people in the Capital.
