Crucial Day for India in the Twenty20 World Cup

This is a championship of its kind! The first ever Twenty20 World Cup began with 12 teams and now we are down to four. It is going to be a delectable contest between India and Australia at Durban. The Australians are the world champions; however, they seem to be struggling with the play in this format.

Australia displayed a great performance against Sri Lanka and gave a description of their play in this series as well. Nevertheless, they will still miss the presence of Ricky Ponting and Shane Watson. But the youngsters in this team seem to be on fire with their match winning performances. Australia has been quite good with the batting performance and there have been good performances by Mathew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist with an average partnership of 75 runs in this tournament. The middle order players here have failed to live up to the expectations of the team and this is where India needs to concentrate – the early wickets!

The benefit with India is that it has been through these conditions and has played in the Kingsmead lights at least twice in the last three days and thence they are accustomed to the playing environment. Australia on the other hand has never played on the pitch of Durban and most importantly has never played after 6pm. Even the Australian coach has agreed to the advantage coming off these conditions.

The game plan for tomorrow for both the teams would be to concentrate on early wickets and keep the match going balanced instead of a lousy one sided game.

Probables for both teams
India: Virender Sehwag, Gautham Gambhir, Robin Uthappa, Yuvraj Singh, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt, wk), Rohit Sharma, Irfan Pathan, Joginder Sharma, Harbhajan Singh, Sreesanth, RP Singh.

Australia: Adam Gilchrist (capt, wk), Matthew Hayden, Brad Hodge, Andrew Symonds, Mike Hussey, Michael Clarke, Brad Haddin, Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson, Nathan Bracken, Stuart Clark.
